Last year I attended Food Blogger Connect in London and learned a lot. It was my first blogging conference and it was a great experience. Jaden from Steamy Kitchen was the keynote speaker. This year the key note speaker is Dianne Jacob of Will Write for Food.

The conference is 3 days in September and has a jam packed schedule. I haven’t bought my ticket yet as it’s a bit out of the family budget this year. There is hope though! Vitamix is giving away 2 tickets to the conference. Five chosen recipes will be prepared in the Vitamix Total Nutrition Centre at the FBC12 Market. The entries will be judged by Vitamix Chef Bev Shaffer, and the two winners will get to make their recipe with her at the FBC12 Market! Also, all five Vitamix Total Nutrition Centre machines will be given away to #FBC12 attendees during the closing ceremonies.

Banana Oatmeal Smoothie

As part of my entry to win a ticket I had to come up with a smoothie recipe. I made an oatmeal, peanut butter and banana smoothie. I love this smoothie. I made it all the time in January to kick off a healthy start for the new year. It’s great for breakfast on the go and is filling enough to get you through the morning.

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Smoothie

Yield: 2 glasses

Peanut Butter Oatmeal Smoothie


1/4 cup oats or Ready Break

1/3 cup peanut butter

1 banana

1 cup milk


  1. Pour the oats into a blender and pulse on their own for 30 seconds until a fine consistency. Add all the other ingredients and blend until smooth.
  2. If using Ready Break pour all the ingredients into the blend and pulse until smooth.
