Boston Cupcakes & Treats
Posted by Cupcake Kelly on Nov 28, 2011 in Other, Travels | 5 commentsWe were in Boston for just a few days. There are a lot of bakeries and I’m ashamed we didn’t have a chance to get to them all but we still made some fun stops! I read Phoung’s guide to Boston for Cakespy. Phoung’s got a super cute blog.
We stopped at Sweet. I was really looking forward to this place but we were a little disappointed.
The maple cranberry cupcake was pretty awful. I have a pretty high tolerance for sweet things but this frosting was so sickly sweet I couldn’t eat it. The cake part was more like a muffin and I couldn’t taste any cranberry.
The Boston Cream cupcake was better. I liked the super light spongy cake. Alex got a naked salted chocolate. I didn’t taste it but he didn’t like it.
Johnny Cupcakes is right near to Sweet on Newbury Street.
Caramel apple ice cream at J.P. Licks
Modern Pastry has amazing fresh cannoli’s.
Chocolate cannoli with vanilla custard and chocolate chips
Mike’s Pastry is on the same street as Modern Pastry.
I got a peanut butter cannoli. They had so many interesting flavors. Unlike Modern Pastry the cannoli’s are already filled and on display.
We went to Cambridge and saw awesome food trucks driving around.
We also stopped in at fancy chocolate shop LA Burdick
Make sure to check out my cupcake adventures in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, DC and Orlando!

I will happily sample some of that caramel apple ice cream.
The cannolis’s look amazing! I can’t wait to go to the States next year and sample all these goodies and more!
It seems that you have spent a tour of the local cafe
Thanks for the link Kelly! I’m glad that you got to try a few of our bakeries! Too bad the cupcakes at Sweet was a miss that day. I’m so happy that food trucks are more available in Boston now Hope you have a chance to visit again and try more sweets!
I was really disappointed since I’d read a lot of good things about Sweet. I think sometimes I make the mistake of picking the “seasonal” offering which sometimes isn’t as good as the usual staples. I can’t wait to go back!
