Oskar’s Nursery

Oskar's Nursery

It’s been four months and I have Oskar’s nursery finished! It was mostly finished a few months ago but then I banged the rocking chair into the wall and knocked out a chunk of dry wall. Oops! Alex patched it up this weekend for me.

I decided to decorate his room in a color scheme rather than a theme. I went with navy blue, gray and teal accents. All the paint is from Sherwin Williams. The accent wall is Indigo Batik and the other three walls are Uncertain Gray. There are a few elephants in the room though. An elephant rocker, night light and mobile.

I bought the wall decals from etsy. I wasn’t super impressed with the seller I bought from. There wasn’t enough adhesive on the back and I used some craft glue on a few of the dots. Search for nursery decals and there are millions of cute ideas. Putting up all those polka dots totally triggered my labor though :-p

We went with neutral furniture (in case we wanted to be able to use it again) from Pottery Barn Kids. I went with a classic design Kendall Crib, Emerson Changing Table and the Wingback Rocker in Linen Blend Gray. The rocker was really a splurge but it’s honestly my favorite piece of furniture. I love rocking Oskar to sleep.

The room has a large closet so we decided not to buy a dresser. The only thing I’m still waiting to buy is a bedside table to put his little piggy bank and humidifier on. The blinds are those temporary paper ones you buy from Home Depot. The valance was a custom designed gift from my wonderful aunt (who is an interior decorater). The lamp was $10 from Ikea.

We added a few pieces to the walls. A “floating” wrap of Oskar from his newborn session. A handmade crochet of Noah’s Arc from Nanny in the UK, a water color made by my very talented sister in law Erin. The blanket over the chair and the knitted wiener dog were made by my sister Kayla.
