I may not have had as much time as I used to for coming up with original recipes but I still haven’t lost my zest for baking! I may not spend all weekend in the kitchen anymore but I still love pinning recipes and reading cookbooks. It’s also great to know that I’m not alone (there were a few other blogs I read where they also have babies about the same age as mine). I hope that you find some great new blogs and books after reading about them here.

Lately I’ve been focusing on very easy recipes. Tasty treats that can either be made in one bowl, do not require many steps or difficult assembly. I think in the last moth I’ve had about 1 hour to myself but looking at Oskar’s squishy little cheeks as he peers over the top of his crib I’d probably be ok never baking again as long as I have him.

These were a little bit of a pain to make but they’re so much fun. I didn’t make them for any particular special occasion but considering all the effort I wish I had!

I’ve modeled this magical cake after the German Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. I was doing research on Black Forest Cake and disappointingly the top recipes that came up (from the “biggest” blogs) were filled with cake mix, canned cherry pie filling and no Kirsch! Blasphemy!

These cookies are major. I mean MAJOR. Chocolate, intense, salty, crazy cookies. I understand why the recipe book they came from is called Cookie Love.
