Pure Vanilla is the second book by Shauna Sever. I reviewed her first book Marshmallow Madness earlier this year. I am a total vanilla freak. Vanilla is pretty much the foundation of every baked good. What’s not to love about it? I even once got a comment that one of my recipes was too vanilla-ey :-P I love vanilla but I always viewed it as more of a component or one part of a recipe.

Pumpkin Cookie Butter Cupcakes

I’m having a love affair with speculoos right now. I also have an unhealthy obsession with pumpkin. Last week I even had a dream about the pumpkin dounts at Dunkin’ Donuts. So unfair that I can’t run down there and pick some up for breakfast. We have Krispy Kreme here in London but they don’t offer pumpkin donuts yet.

Candy Corn Oreo Brownies

My aunt bought me two precious boxes of Candy Corn Oreos when I was back home. She was the only person in the whole family that came across them at all. Before I arrived my dad went to about 5 different stores without luck. I used both boxes on this same recipe. I made a batch when everyone came over to my parent’s house for dinner and another batch when I got home.

When I was back home Halloween wasn’t even over yet and all the stores were slowly bringing the Christmas displays to the front and getting the Halloween stuff ready for clearance. Let’s not forget that all important holiday in between Halloween and Christmas…Thanksgiving!
