I’ve seen a lot of birthday cake batter ice cream on the web, pintrest and in the grocery store the last few years. On my last trip to the US I stopped at Kilwins with my friends and tried their version of cake batter ice cream. Instead of being funfetti inspired it was classic birthday cake. Yellow cake with fudge icing.
I’m a pretty good cook but I’m not the most imaginative chef when it comes to savory dishes. I’m excellent at following recipes but very rarely make up my own dinner recipes from scratch. That’s why about 99% of the recipes on this blog are sweet.

This is pretty much the lazy bakers apple crisp. Perfect for a lazy weekend meal or when unexpected company comes to stay. The only effort required is peeling and chopping the apples. I made this for our New Year’s Eve celebration at home. I still had to go to work that day so this was a perfect recipe I could make at the same time as our dinner. I also like using my fancy skillet to bake desserts!

I’ve made a lot of different ice cream since I bought my ice cream maker. I’ve experimented with quite a few dairy free flavors as well. Up until now I’ve always used soy milk. It always tastes great but it sticks to the side of the ice cream maker like crazy.

I think this is the smallest cake that I’ve made to date. I love itty bitty layer cakes. Besides being super cute they take less ingredients to make and I can still practice my icing skills. I’ve wanted to make an ombre cake since I first saw them popping up on pintrest.
