On one of our trips to Florida several years ago the hotel we were staying at had a bonfire pit especially for roasting s’mores. Even though it was 90 degrees outside we spent the night by the fire so I teach Alex about the delights of the s’more. We ended up eaten alive by mosquitoes but the s’mores were worth it.
Since I’m a city girl there’s no room for a fire pit in our two bed apartment but I have invested in a kitchen blowtorch so I can make s’mores inside without all the bugs. I had a whole week last summer dedicated to s’mores and I toasted marshmallows in the oven as well.
I had a whole box of graham crackers that I brought back from America and I almost felt guilty about opening the box just to eat them rather than using them to make a pie crust. I used a leftover piece of bacon from the bacon jam and made Alex one s’more with his favorite dark chocolate.
The jet puffed s’mores stackers marshmallows really work well!. There’s no real recipe for a s’more the idea for a bacon s’more is from Bacon Nation. Basically, two graham crackers with 4 squares of milk or dark chocolate, 1 piece of crispy bacon and a toasted marshmallow sandwiched together.
If you live in a country where there are no graham crackers you can make your own!
