You may have seen the festive holiday milks nestled next to the different holiday nogs this year. I didn’t get a chance to taste them (because I already over dosed on eggnog before Thanksgiving)but I did read that they have corn syrup AND 41g of sugar per serving. I thought I could make a tastier version of the Target Snickerdoodle milk at home with a little less sugar than that.

Every year for the last six years Alex asked me if I would make him mince pies. Every year I was mean and said no. They are plentiful back in the UK and were on sale all the time. The thought of that brown fruit mixture totally turned me off. I could not wrap my head around eating the stuff. It is just not part of the American Christmas tradition.

I hope everyone had a delicious and relaxing Thanksgiving weekend. We had a really great time at my sister’s house. She’s definitely a better cook than I am. She made the entire Thanksgiving meal from scratch. Cranberry sauce, yeasted rolls and the stuffing (even the cornbread in the stuffing). The jellied cranberry sauce she made I think was my favorite. We’re not even a cranberry sauce loving family. It was an amazing meal to inaugurate Alex into the Thanksgiving tradition.

I like saving money. I think pretty much everyone likes saving money. Sometimes this baking business can get out of hand. I’ve got stacks and stacks of magazines and books in piles all over the flat. I also like reading lots of different blogs. I started branching out and reading other non baking blogs. Who knew other kinds of blogs existed and didn’t tell me!

This is the last homemade gift idea for the week. I debated giving this its own post because it’s almost too easy! I wish I’d had some fancier jars on hand but I didn’t want to spend a bomb when it’s what’s on the inside that counts :-p

I never used to be a big fan of gingerbread. I love spice, chai and pumpkin pie but I was never a huge ginger cake person. I guess taste buds change because I find myself fancying ginger a lot more these days. I’m still not crazy about raw ginger but I do love the lemon ginger crunch bars at Leon!
