4th of July Rose Cake

4th of July Rose Cake

I think this is one of the most beautiful cakes I’ve ever made. Decorating is a tricky area for me and I love this cake because it looks stunning but it’s dead easy to decorate. Win!

I mad a simple three layer six inch white cake using half of this recipe. This is now my favorite white cake recipe. It’s tasty, fluffy and didn’t fall apart while I was assembling the layers.

To save time you can use a box mix but make your own frosting. I made a “decorating frosting” (100g butter and 125g Trex/Crisco). It’s not the most delicious but it holds it’s shape well especially in warm weather.

The cake idea and how to pipe the roses all came from I am Baker. The cake is very beautiful and would make a great center piece for a 4th of July BBQ. I would reccomend putting an extremley thin crumb layer of frosting under the roses. Mine was a little too thick and once the roses are on top…it ends up a lot of frosting in each slice!

I put 200g of batter into each cake tin and baked them for 17-20 minutes at 180 C. I used sugar flair gel color for the frosting and layers that I bought online.

Like every year I’ll be at work on the 4th of July so have a hot dog and wave a sparkler around for me!
