My aunt bought me two precious boxes of Candy Corn Oreos when I was back home. She was the only person in the whole family that came across them at all. Before I arrived my dad went to about 5 different stores without luck. I used both boxes on this same recipe. I made a batch when everyone came over to my parent’s house for dinner and another batch when I got home.
My dad even picked out all the orange and white sprinkles from a multi-colored bottle so I could sprinkle them on top of the brownie layer. I didn’t make it in time to post these for Halloween. I’m not sure about everyone else but I always end up with leftover candy and baking paraphernalia after any holiday. It’s pretty much always 70% off the day after Halloween anyway!
These brownies consist of three layers. A cookie layer, an Oreo layer and a brownie topping. When I made these back home I used a roll of Pillsbury cookie dough, dyed it orange and used a box of brownie mix for the top. I made the mistake of using the whole box instead of half and the other two layers pretty much drowned in chocolate. When I made these the second time I used the brownie recipe from these Heart Attack Brownies and for the cookie layer made half of this sugar cookie recipe from Martha Stewart (minus the lemon and with orange gel color).
These brownies could easily be adapted to any holiday. Nabisco pretty much comes out with a new Oreo variety every five minutes these days.
