{Book Review} The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris

I wish I hadn’t decided to read The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris right after Christmas. I wasn’t on a diet but this book with it’s delicious chocolate story line was making it hard for me to take a break from rich foods.

Anna Trent is a factory worker in a British commercial chocolate factory but an unfortunate accident lands her alone in a hospital with her former French teacher who is suffering from cancer. Once recovered Anna finds herself working in an artisan chocolate shop in Paris.

I loved how the plot twined the story of Anna in Paris with the memory of Clare in Paris when she was a teenager. It has a slightly more somber tone than most chick lit books but it was good to read something that explores other aspects of life. The end of the book has a section with some recipes. As the main character, Anna, is British there are a few chocolate classics, Malteser Cake and Chocolate Biscuit Cake.

You can’t go wrong with Jenny Colgan books. She’s the queen of British chick lit. I’ve loved all of her books. They’re funny, each book has a unique story and interesting characters. If you love Paris and chocolate the story line has basic similarities to The Chocolate Kiss but is much more PG.
