{Book Review} Love, Lies and Lemon Cake

I’ve got a short and sweet book review today. Love, Lies and Lemon Cake is a fun British romance novel. The characters are a little different than the other foodie romance novels that I’ve read recently. The main character, Faye, is a middle aged woman who leads a very boring life and is married to a man with pretty much zero passion.

She takes a break at the new local gourmet deli and shamelessly flirts with the cute Australian behind the counter, who also happens to make the world’s best lemon cake. There’s a lot more but I can’t really say much more without giving away the best bits.

This was a fun, fast read. I liked that it was a story about a woman and a younger man for once. I also like that the romance element isn’t the most important aspect of the story. A main part of the story is about Faye finding her own happiness.

Fun book for a quiet night in on a cold day.

  1. I read this book and also loved it… However, your review makes me wonder if you actually read it. You mentioned more than once that the main character is Sue. The story is written by Sue and the main character’s name is Faye.

    • Ha whoops, I promise I read the book! I finished it several weeks ago though.

I never post reviews of books I haven’t read or cooked from.
